new tailor in NYC-Max Girombelli

I tried a new tailor in NYC called Max Girombelli 1917 917-532-5207 , he measures you here and then it is made in his families factory in Italy-they send it back and forth here for fittings. I gather the cost of doing that makes this practical.
I was very impressed with the quality of the work. I like the suit very much but I have to admit it took some getting used to. The jacket is closer to the body, shorter and he makes the sleeves a bit shorter as well. The shoulder is terrific and the back is perfection. The lapel(I had it made in three buttons)is smaller but fuller at the bottom. Its a soft slimming suit.
The pants are made with slightly slanted pockets and only one pleat. They are very comfortable
The fabric is very soft and crisp-but Italians wear in the middle of winter the same fabric I wear in the summer-9 ozs. That's the hardest part for me to get used to.
This suit is a summer spring fall suit and I used brown-red mother of pearl buttons.
The cost ranges from 2700 to about 3400 for super 160s
I told myself I would show restraint this fall but he showed some beautiful flannels that are very lightweight and which tempt me.
I think that his business model, a factory that does high quality ready to wear and also does custom, works. I like Max as well. He played US football in Italy.

I"m going to get a picture tomorrow to post-it went back and forth twice, he has a tailor here to do last minute tweaks but when I got it after the second fitting, it was perfect

Forgive me but in my opinion the button-down collar detracts. Very tastefull otherwise.....

you look good - as always. However, as you wear the suit unbuttoned at that picture, the buttons and the buttonhole weren't on a line. Therefore you show more cuff on the left than you do on the right.
Apart from that, I also don't like button down collars and ties combined - however it seems to me that it is perfectly adequate in the US.

I look forward to see you and your suit in person. I didn't book the flight to NYC yet.
At the moment I am in Vegas - tomorrow I will go to San Jose , then San Francisco and finally to LA .

my shoulders are always sort of uneven, I favor one over the other depending on which muscles on my old body hurt most after a workout-it makes it hard to keep my cuffs even.

Your suit makes no particular impression by itself, thanks to its subdued colour and classic cut - other than that any well-cut and -fitting suit makes. Which I think is a good premise for a number of elegant combinations, as its simple lines leave the main part to the shirt and tie. Its merit is that of providing a good quality frame, or background, without being in any way dull.
I can't help noticing the similarity between your appearence and the painting in the background. I hope I am not committing a gaffe, but are you by any chance the subject (or inspiration) of it?

It is a painting of me done by my brother, who has talent,
I like the suit for exactly the reasons you state-its a simple frame for interesting combinations,
I have a weakness for button down shirts with a big roll-I have a thick neck and squat shoulders and I like the role with a big dimpled tie and a pocket square. Its some flash but I'm a middle aged trial lawyer and I"ve worked hard, so I enjoy it.
What I like about the suit is it "walks" well, it looks good moving about, it hangs very well from the shoulders and the tapered pants and side vents give it some swagger.
