Dear David:
"I am working on an English oxford weave silk that will be a very dark navy/midnight blue. This silk will make a very nice lined/tipped six-fold tie."
Well then. I inch closer to my Mullberrywood Holy Grail.
Not that I don't make an attempt to be informed on the migratory patterns of Mullberrywood, but please contact me when that darkest blue is sighted. I should very much like a sample.
Kiton makes a 14 micron dark-heather gray 7 fold that I've been eyeing for some time. Has Colorado any comparables?
To encooper: congratulations on your purchase. I keep trying to lure David to my end of the color wheel.

Eric,
The English navy/midnight blue Oxford weave silk has arrived in Colorado. I shall send you a pm regarding a swatch.
I have not seen the gray Kiton tie. Is it silk or wool?

Dear David,
I'd seen the Kiton about 4 months ago at Bergdorff's. It was indeed silk, one of their 14 microns. I haven't seen it recently. It was almost indistinguishable from the black, except that it was warmer. I imagine that there are occasions where black isn't right and almost black would do the trick, for which that tie continues to linger for me.
Off to your pm and to resume the quest for the midnight blue.

Gentlemen,
The Kiton 14 Micron tie in question is in fact wool. And quite nice at that.

That explains much. And illuminates a rather unfortunate error on my part. I should have checked at home before blithely volunteering the Kiton’s composition. Thank you, mrwynn.
Perhaps the fabric contains the secretive, warm luster in the dark gray that i desire?
In any event, I am looking forward to the Midnight Blue swatch.
