its little, I mean little, its got a second level but the first level is long and really narrow. They sell mostly Alden which is a good US ready made shoe. I have often read about the store and the owner, Maurizio, and that he specializes in a Alden style called the "modified last" which is supposed to be very comfortable on some feet. I went there the other day because I was bored and bought a pair of burgandy derby shoes on the Modifed Last..
I really lilke them. I must have the foot for them because they are very comfortable. they have a retro style that I like. They're heavy and have a high toe cap with a 40's shape toe but they look good with three button suits.
I also got a suede penny loafer made specially for the store in a light buff color which are unusual and comfortable.
The shoes are inexpensive, about 375 each, and for members that don't have a ton of money to spend, its a good choice. And its a store with very good service that should be supported and you can get things there which unusual and pleasing.
moulded shoe store in NYC
I have also had very good experiences with Moulded Shoe. I needed a pair of shoes that I could wear as house slippers without the need for using my orthotics. They made a pair for me by altering a pair of Alden suede driving mocs. I don't love the driving moc sole, especially for wearing at home, but that was the shoe that fit me the best so that is they used. It has been a long time since I have been able to wear loafers of any kind so I have been thrilled with their work (my children have long tired of watching me do my "slipper dance" every time I put them on). I look forward to getting a pair of Alden loafers this summer for wear outside the house. BTW, any styling suggestions from those of you who know the Alden lineup? I will probably choose based on which models come on the last that fits best (whichever that may be), but it would still be nice to have some ideas.
The Moulded Shoe shop is family owned and run and they really know what they are doing. If you like Alden shoes and are hard to fit or have special fitting needs, they are a fantastic option.
