Do any fellow LL members know whether they sell cloth directly to the public? Can anyone provide me their address and telephone number?

From within the US you have buy directly from Isle's Textiles on Long Island. 516 409 0948.

In the UK you can find Smith at 0207 437 6226. Address is 16A Dufours Place in Soho.

From my experience Isles Textiles will not sell to the general public. It sells only to the trade. The trade (tailors, stores, etc.) dislike direct sales since some vendors add their own mark-up to the price of the Isles cloth.

If your tailor does not carry Smiths perhaps Isles will arrange for you to make the purchase by phone and for the cloth to be delivered to your tailor? Or Isles might send the desired books to your tailor. Perhaps Isles will expedite the transaction in order to get its foot in the door for future sales?

David Graham at Smith & Co has always been an absolute pleasure to deal with, although the amounts of cloth I buy are absolutely negligible. If you have any difficulties obtaining Smith cloth wnerever you are based, I suggest you call him and ask whether they can find a solution.

Thank you all for the quick reply. I actually live in London and use a travelling tailor who doesn't carry any Smith swatches. Having read only good things about Smith from this forum I'm just keen to have their material for my next suit.

I'll call them soon and look forward to seeing and feeling all of their lovely swatch books.
