With the summer tourist season soon upon us, I thought I would post a few tips on my beloved Montreal. I will have to fill in a few blanks and edit a little before a final list is up.
I hope this is of some help to anyone who plans on visiting.

See Mr. Kaufman, a very nice man.

Montreal RTW garment makers:

Samuelsohn: 6930 AVENUE DU PARC - (514) 273-7741
The second best RTW suit made in North America after Oxxford.
There is no retail available.

Bespoke Tailors:

There are many, most of which that I have never used.
I am attempting to get a feeling of the top 6 or so and will add this later.

Restaurants:

Montreal is a city with plenty of great restos (as the locals call them in slang French), and plenty of mediocre restos that are places to be seen. On average, if you ask for a restaurant suggest, you will be given a place to see and been seen first and fore most.

Suggestions to eat well:

Au Pied de Cochon *Heavy meat dishes
Bonaparte *French cuisine
Boris Bistro *Nice outdoor terrace
L’Express *French Bistro
Golden Curry *Indian, small but very good.
Milos *Greek, one of the best seafood
Stash *Polish
Toque *Best degustation menu in the city
Red Thai *Thai
Chao Phraya *Thai
Caprices de Nicola *French
Ferrara *Seafood
Troika *Russian

Europea: Dugusation menu is suberb. Not for the light of heart.
The nine course dinner lasted almost 4 hours.

Middle ground:

Cafe Cherrier
Holder
Blue Nile *Ethopian
Ouzeri *Greek

Suggestions to see and been seen:

Bunno Notte
Rosalie
Cavalia
Queue Chaval
Cube
Newtown

Suggestions for quick but good lunch:

Euro Deli St. Laurent street, best pasta in town.
Not pretty, but good food quick.

Schwatz Deli St. Laurent st.
Smoked meat, huge lines at times.Over rated, but worth a quick trip.

Hotels:

The city is full of beautiful small hotels. Stay away from the Sheraton and Ritz.

St. James
St. Paul
Place D’Armes
Eighteenth-Century (official name is in French)
St. Germain
