New Suit

This afternoon, when I was supposed to be at my journalism class, I decided to take a trip up to the neighborhood Brooks Brothers...

I ended up buying a 8.5oz dark grey with light grey pinstripes (about every 3/4 of an inch) suit.

Details:
Single breasted, two button
Vest with lapels
Plain front
Normal rise
No cuffs
Side vents

Brooks brothers also has a current deal in which, when one places an order for a MTM suit, they get a free MTM shirt. So I decided upon a light blue check, cutaway collar, rounded french cuff, no pocket, slim-fit version.

I was excited, and since most of my friends don't care, I thought you gentlemen might be somewhat interested.

I'm happy for you, most reporters dress horribly

Thank you, and yes, most reporters do dress horribly, at least recently, (Edward R Murrow used to get his suits from Savile Row I believe).

As for me, I'm actually attempting to go into tailoring. I just need journalism as an English credit. My current tailoring project (2 btn tweed sportcoat) is going very slow due to school and work getting in my way.

The suit sounds very nice James. Did you go to the BB on Michigan Ave in Downtown Chicago? This past January while I was in NYC with my friend Tom Hudson (cuffthis), I brought a grey chalk stripe DB suit from BB on Madison and 44th.

I didn't go to Michigan Ave, however, The BB in the Rookery is one of the nicest stores I have ever seen.

Mine was from the BB in Northbrook.

I forgot to mention that mine also has working cuffs, brace buttons, and no belt loops

Haven't been up to Northbrook yet. I should give it a look the next I get to Chicago. That is whats nice about a place like Chicago and it's suburbs, you have some the same things that are downtown when you can't get downtown.

These features are appreciated, especially since one of our main highways is going to be essentially "closed" for several months...

Northbrook mall is rather nice, but a bit snobby. They do have a good selection of Oxxfords suits.
