Is anyone familiar with the shirting fabric called Monti? I believe it is Italian. How does that shirting compare with Mason or Alumo or any other higher end shirting fabric? Thanks.

I think for our purposes it is S.I.C. Tess that is of interest. While I have no shirts from their fabrics, contacts in the trade which I have always found extremely reliable consider them some of the best, right up with the finest ranges from Alumo and the D & J Anderson range from Albini (the company which owns the Thomas Mason brand).

Some time ago I was told that S.I.C Tess was bought by its new owners to show their skills and develop the high end with little regard to the bottom line. So there appears little risk that quality would deteriorate.

Obviously, none of this is any more than rumour, but it does correspond to what the article above says.
