Ultimate NY Winter Overcoat?

Last Winter there were some chilly, snowy days that left me shivering even in a heavy OC (1000 gms.) There were days I seriously thought of buying one of those Canadian made down parkas! RTW? Never! So this year I decided to arm myself with a new sartorial weapon to fend off wet and cold.
It is a 700 gms Austrian loden lined in 375 gms Scottish cashmere. The loden should keep out the wet and the cashmere should lock warmth inside. We shall see!
Cheers

Looks serious! Hopefully it fends off the bitter, wet chill for you.

Beautiful overcoat Michael! The lining matches elegantly with the grey. It's surprising that bemberg is used so often in overcoat linings, when it's always cold-to-the-touch, and seems to conduct the chill from the outside like a layer of water. The cashmere will be much warmer, like being draped in a soft sweater.

Are the sleeves also lined in cashmere?

Hi Minh,
Thank you.
Bemberg is definitely out of the question. The LL Angora herringbone is being finished as an SB, 3b, show buttons overcoat and it will be lined in silk. I would only ever use silk, cashmere or linen as lining for outerwear.
Cheers

UPDATE
Well there have been some pretty frigid days in New York this month, and my overcoat has kept me toasty warm inside. The wind, wet and chill does not get close to penetrating the Loden exterior and the heavy cashmere interior is better than thick down. There is a wonderful dry warmth inside the coat.
After this testing, I can heartily recommend this combination of Loden and heavy Cashmere. If you rightly choose to eschew the ubiquitous Canada Goose down coat, in favor of something more elegant...this is the ticket!
Cheers

Michael, could you please tell us more about the advantages of using linen as lining for outwear?
