Well said. Moreover, the suit in this picture is - what? - an actual LL member's aspiration? Ye gods: what has it all been about? Eh? Eh?Simon A wrote:I'm not sure how the last photo demonstrates harmony between shoes and suit. If you have Bryn Terfel and the Portsmouth Sinfonia performing together, it is still a cacophony.
No Brown in town?
I cannot say whether that suit is an actual LL member's aspiration. May be there is someone out there, who knows? As for me, the suit looks skimpy and I definitely would not look good in it.NJS wrote:Well said. Moreover, the suit in this picture is - what? - an actual LL member's aspiration? But I believe the chap in the suede derbies has ensembled a smart modern urban outfit that makes him look confident and better dressed than 99% of his fellow citizen.
Well, you put the picture up here and, although I hate to disagree, to me, he looks as though he crashed into his little brother's wardrobe and thought "What the hell!" If he looks better dressed than 99% of his fellow citizens these days, then I'm jolly glad to be staying on the beach. Surely, it's not about striving to be better dressed than anybody else or even everybody else, it's just about dressing yourself as well as you can - and this sartorial wreckage is nowhere close to anything worth talking about.hectorm wrote:I cannot say whether that suit is an actual LL member's aspiration. I have to agree on this one...Nor, is it about attention seeking, which this get-up suggests to me.Surely, it's not about striving to be better dressed than anybody else or even everybody else, it's just about dressing yourself as well as you can - and this sartorial wreckage is nowhere close to anything worth talking about.

Staying on the beach is a good idea. Why leave?
Do you really have a cat named Flash?
No reason to leave!
There are 24 cats and a group (with white flashes), have the names Flash, Dash, Splash and Hash. Flash is my Familiar; currently training two solid black cats: Manteiga ('Butter' because he is stout) and Gypsy for the next All Hallows' Eve jaunt.
I can picture that too.NJS wrote: ...., to me, he looks as though he crashed into his little brother's wardrobe and thought "What the hell!"
The LL member who posted the picture does not seem to aspire to that kind of dress and his post is likely tongue in cheek. His clothes are well tailored and normally speaking made of superb LL cloth.
This post has made me think about "Modern" dressing especially as it relates to photojournalism/advertising of the Sartorialist ilk. Stay tuned.
Cheers

He should be shouting "Gotcha!" at us then! Your views on the Trendsetters will be interesting to read. They do seem to have mass influence. I have to say that I prefer the Catorialist!alden wrote:The LL member who posted the picture does not seem to aspire to that kind of dress and his post is likely tongue in cheek.
