Rules cannot create style. We have to go deeper. Style, really great style, is based on an approach to life, and is a result of that approach.

Nietzsche has a concept that could be a key: amor fati, that is, love of fate.

Is it possible to posses style, really great style, without loving your own fate? I don't think so. Nonchlance, sprezzatura, or charm won't help much in terms of style, if you don't love your own fate. Invariably you will end up pretending instead of being losing the impact.

Loving or hating it! Indifference to anything not material in one's existence is the dead end of any endeavour to style. But what if you are an anarchist in your own kingdom - can you not have style?

Is it being posited one must be a determinist to have style?

What I was trying to say was that you must feel free to have style, and that the feeling of freedom comes from loving ones fate or feeling at home or a feeling that you are chosen, not only called ... If you are fighthing against reality, you can't get that ease that nourishes style. You can still be a great person but the unforced force of style comes from lack of necessity. No style without a feeling of freedom. No style without loving ones fate.
