You read the book? In German?
Ausgezeichnet mein guter Costi! Es war mir nicht bewusst das hier sonst noch jemand Deutsch sprechen kann.
Sprachen sind ein Segen!

G. Bruce Boyer, a member here and too much of a gentleman to blow his own trumpet, has just published a must-have book about men's style. It is genuinely inspirational, not least because it's largely composed of personal snaps rather than posed publicity shots - it conveys the way Cooper really dressed.
Gary Cooper: Enduring Style, by G Bruce Boyer and Maria Cooper Janis, published by powerHouse Books.
I have written a story about it here - Mr Boyer wrote the picture captions:

I can't recommend the book highly enough!

I'm a old Italian tailor , my books are: Il taglio del sarto maskile by Prof Rocco Aloi published , La moda Maschile Milano Via Giovan Battista Vico 18.
Second one , same adress : TECNICUS . Enciclopedia la MODA maschile for , tailor, design , and for industry. XXI Edition .
From those books I learn how to cut any item for any style and posture.
But must I learn from my mistakes.
Third book witch I loved is : The Elegant Man by Riccardo Villarosa and Giuliano Angeli.
My Opinion this book it is very useful for all those who like be elegant and have a good care of their suits .
Mr. Costi Please ceck my terrible Inglish
Thanks
Pino

Nobody has mentioned in this thread yet the third opus by LL´s own Nicholas Storey, "History of Men´s Etiquette: A short guide to the sporting life". A wonderful book. Less sartorial than the previous two but still worthy to have on the shelf of any Structure of Style aficionado.
Congratulations to NJS.

Hector - Bearing in mind that I once suggested that you were a troll, it is especially kind of youn to mention my 'trilogy'. Sadly none of them has an accurate main title but the sub-titles are better.

There is a wealth of literature on so called fine dressing and sartorial trivia from English and American perspectives. The online #menswear community likes to obsess over Italian tailoring and dress, and it forms the subject of discussion on various fora, message boards and blogs. The degree of success, seriousness and sophistication of the discussion tends to vary (to use an understatement), but it is there. So that base is, more or less, covered as well. Continental dress and the 'Continental perspective' seem to be the poor relation here. I can only assume that a lack of English-language literature is the cause. Anyway, I want to know more and I am looking for French (and German) books on style and fine dressing. Anybody got suggestions? Is Bernard Lanvin's 1987 guide any good?

Thank you, Pssst for resuscitating a thread which I believe never achieved its full potential.
I just read (browsed is more like it) something that might interest you:
René Gruau Men by Rejane Bargiel and Sylvie Nissen. As you may know Gruau was an illustrator/designer who worked for Dior and was responsible -among other things- for costume design in
La Dolce Vita. Continental flavor indeed!

Thanks. I know the illustrator and the book, good stuff, great illustrations even if you don't give a damn about fashion, eh style or clothes. Totally unlike the Esquire, Leyendecker and AA pictures, which are uninteresting if you don't care about the dress of the depicted subjects. Guau's eye for composition and bold use of colour is superb.

But what I am looking for are backgrounds, details and subtleties of 'classic' dress of European gentlemen. There must be a wealth of info out there, beyond the language 'barrier'.
