I think what Henderson does not say is that the transition from a “craft based” to a “luxury” brand has been forced on these businesses by the lack of competent craftsmen. What does G&H offer that Polo, Tom Ford or G Armani cannot do better?
The other curious phenomenon, which can be read on various forums and blogs, is the brand worship of the younger bespoke crowd. “Take a look at my Rubinacci, it is better than your Steed!” sounds a bit like comparing diamond encrusted Rolexes on the streets of Dubai!
Cheers
