I ordered my first bespoke suit last month - an 11 oz French blue worsted with sky blue chalk stripes in Anglia cloth. I would like my next commission to be a three-piece Cambridge grey flannel for shoulder season wear. I'm guessing 11 oz is about as light a flannel as one can wear in good conscious. Would you all agree ... or do you think shoulder-season flannel is a waste of time?

I have had both substantial and light flannel in the past but no more. Any flannel less than 13 to 14 ounces eventually makes me wish that I had gotten something else.

10 ounce flannel has only one of the characteristics of a 13 ounce and heavier woolen flannel. It wears hot.

I have recently turned a pair of lightweight flannels from Kent and Curwen into rags for buffing my boots. I think I had 24 days' wear of them before they fell apart at the fork. Don't do it, it is an expensive exercise.

OK, the idea has been officially abandoned. Thanks for saving me money and time. I'll have to find some other nappy grey cloth for this commission. Any suggestions?

I fear that a 14 oz worsted will be too hot for the spring and fall. Nice looking fabric though.
