Dear Members,

I am considering to bespeak tartan trousers and would be delighted to get recommendations of fellow members on appropriate trouser styles, shirts and odd jackets to match with the trousers.

All the best,
Luis

Have them made as plus-4s and wear them for golf

When do you wish to wear them?

Wearing them as part of a normal day time ensemble might seem very dandified. Otherwise it's the golf course or evening wear in Scotland. For the latter you will need trews, with which one can wear various styles of highland dress jacket. Consult Dege and Skinner in London.

Many thanks. The idea of the project is intendent for evening wear. I was thinking about pairing the trousers with a solid colour odd jacket (not a highland-dress jacket). It would be an informal outfit.

I also thought about playing golf with them, but not in the form of plus-4s. That would´t do well where I live.

Best,
LG

LG where do you live? I would think that in most places you would get much more use out of tartan pants on the golf course than as evening wear. I love the idea as plus 4s which I think would be okay anywhere as they are an ode to the history of golf. But, even if not plus 4s, they would do great as a standard pair of golf trousers.

Brazil for the next three years... anyway, a 11oz cloth weight trouser would do pretty well, on the golf course or far from it. I actually do --badly-- play some golf here in Brasilia and the idea for the trousers refers to a desire for a new element of an informal evening outfit -which I intend not so dashing dandified-, and for a nice occasional golf outfit. I really do think both things are compatible -- knowingly of other members possible disaproval.

In terms of tartan choice, I was thinking about three nice tartans: Buchanan Hunting light 11oz, Brown Watch Modern 11oz (both are somewhat similar) and, of course Earl of St. Andrews Modern 11oz -- a sure golfer's choice. All three extensely researched at Kinloch Anderson's website. Advices or other thoughts are most welcome!
