This is to suggest you have a look at the ties, squares and silks of Seigo, on Madison Avenue around 88th Street in NYC. I have been buying from them for the last few years, though have not posted about it other than to show photos of these bow ties I bought some time ago:

I have also bought neckerchiefs and fringed silk winter scarves. Seigo is run by a very well-dressed Japanese expatriate (the eponymous Mr. Seigo) and specializes in Japanese silk, especially ties of kimono silk. Lovely, though they are, one of the silk's properties is that it fuzzes easily, and Mr. Seigo advises you to bring the ties back for a "trim" every now and them.

I haven't purchased any FIH ties, but besides scarves and neckerchiefs, I have bought several bow ties and I am posting now in gratitude for a lovely custom one I just picked up. Several months ago, I was in the shop with my daughter looking at scarves and while I was choosing a scarf, she was looking for bow ties. She asked if they had any teddy bear ties and they didn't though they found her a FIH club tie with a teddy bear emblem. I didn't want a FIH and asked if they had a bow tie with that pattern, They didn't, but offered to make it. My daughter didn't like the color and asked if they could make it in green so they pulled out a swatch book and showed her the greens. She picked one and asked if they could make the bear in pink. No, not the bear, because the bear was embroidered in "bear color" but they could make the bear's hat and tie pink. And so it was ordered. A few weeks ago I got a call saying it was ready, and today I picked it up.

Great service, great tie and great shop. Stop in, if you can.
