A chance encounter at Aquascutum’s flagship store yesterday saw me grab a fairly decent bargain. I appreciate it is not quite bespoke, but thought to post this to see whether anyone thought if further work was required to improve the jacket. I was drawn to the fabric design and cut, and spent close to no time deciding on the purchase.
Additionally, I wondered if anyone had any knowledge of the construction that typically goes into the Aquascutum RTW range? I can’t quite work out if this jacket is half-canvassed or fused?

Nice jacket, it doesn't seem to require any alterations or adjustments. I don't know how Aquascutum make their jackets, but in general all you need to do to establish whether a coat is fused or canvassed is pinch the cloth in the chest area, trying to catch only the outermost layer between your fingers: if you can pinch the cloth only, without any interlining (pinch the back or sleeve for comparison), then it's canvassed; if you feel it's thicker and is solidary with an interlining, then it's fused.

I don't know about the jackets, but I bought an Aquascutum Mac in the raglan model a couple of years ago, and I have to say that I'm disappointed with the body and sleeve lining and the stitching compared to a vintage Burberry Mac raglan that I also have.

I believe that the sports coats are half-canvassed. The quality of the raincoat has dropped in recent years - poly cotton cloth too! The company was taken over this year by Harold Tillman of Jaeger. He plans to take the company way back to its roots. The fashion forward direction, imposed by a female Chief Executive who tried to copy Burberry, failed miserably.
