I am happy to be able to direct you to a video interview with Antonio and Salvatore Ambrosi filmed in Naples last week. You will have to excuse the quality of this first try at video and I hope to do much better in subsequent efforts. At least, you will be able to meet the family and see them at work in this sequence.

I was in Naples to work with Antonio to make a trouser Toto would have been proud to wear, an older style Neapolitan trouser with ample pleats and a chic cone shaped line. The trouser will be displayed in London, Stay tuned for more details.

Cheers

Michael

Thanks for the video and I am sure I am not alone when I wish you the very best for your new www.dresswithstyle.com venture. Judging merely from the layout, it seems to be a kind of an online magazine, isn't it?

Andrey, that is how I interpret your visionary WOW:

Dresswithstyle looks like a new world to be filled with many creations and the "test" seed already there reminds me of Kubrik's Star Child in Space Odyssey 2001: how appropriate :) I hope to be a good augur in wishing you an auspicious endeavour!

The video makes me miss Naples, the small artisanal shops there and the people. It's a great place to get lost in.

Great job!

FWIW, I did not expect you to have an American accent.

:D

There are a couple nationalities and languages in my family but we all prize one passport above them all, the blue one embossed USA. I also prize the memories of boyhood in the idyllic garden of California in the 50s and 60s. I would go back in a second, but the California so loved doesn’t exist anymore.

Sometimes when I am in Sicily, when the orange trees are in blossom and the air is dense with their nectar, I close my eyes and almost feel home.

Michael,

I have gone through all the videos you have posted - thank you for a great contribution, especially to those who have not been to, or are unable to visit, a Sartoria in Naples. :)

Cheers,
A

One of the ideas behind dresswithstyle.com is to circulate images such as these to viewers who might not have the occasion to visit the places themselves.

I believe that forums and blogs serve little purpose if they do not facilitate real, substantive contact and exchange. New internet technology makes this possible via video. Let's see where the medium leads. Clearly discussions of style or bespoke crafts lend themselves particularly well to on screen development.

The "occult" fashion discussions started on the web as forum chats, essays, AA illustrations, photos and has run up against the wall with the headless photo crowd. Film is the logical next step. I encourage others to equip themselves and step into the lights....

Cheers
