Illustration of the Week #16: A House Coat

We have discussed dinner jackets a bit lately and I came across this illustration from “Monsieur” magazine 1923 edition. The coat is a 2 x 1 DJ with very open and rounded front quarters. The buttoning point seems a bit high on this drawing, but the overall impression of this design is pleasing. It might make a nice Smoking Jacket or House Coat.
Speaking of the House Coat here is the version made by Scholte for Windsor in green corduroy.
Maybe the 20s version made self facing in a camelhair or cord would be handsome. Fabric for thought….
Cheers
