An interesting overcoat

An interesting overcoat model was spotted on the streets today.
The poor man found himself suddenly confronted by your Alden with this question “Good day sir, you are wearing a lovely bespoke overcoat, what can you tell me about it?” The gentleman smiled, thanked me and said, “Well, it was made many, many years ago by a tailor on the Faubourg St. Honore. It’s a bit beaten up now.” “So it was made by Max Eveline”, I replied. “Ye, well as a matter of fact, yes it was Max Eveline. I don’t know if they are even in business anymore.”
The raglan sleeve overcoat with fly front and belt is equipped with a cape. The brown cloth seemed to be a very heavy Harris tweed of an exceptional hue. I wanted a length immediately.
I could not tell what purpose the buttons on the collar served and did not want to disturb our gracious model with too many questions. I can’t see how the cape would be removable but the idea is a good one. Any ideas?
A very nice silk scarf he was wearing as is quite common still in the City of Lights.
