I am catching up with the articles in the forum and am intrigued by the guards coat presented in this post:

Can someone tell me whether those are available in RTW or need to be custom made, and whether they are still made? Also, what kind of fabric would be used for this? Anyone has direct experience wearing one?

I too have been contemplating making a civilian version of the "guards coat" in navy Cashmere though some military great coats I am using for reference purposes seem to be made of very heavy thick wool (Melton?). Unfortuately, they are all double-breasted, with huge lapels designed for use in the highlands of Scotland, I suppose, whereas my preference is for a simpler, and probably more elegant looking, single-breasted city version.

That is my preferred style of overcoat- Long, fitted, DB with a flared skirt. They're also warmer than SB's. I have one commissioned in a very heavy whipcord and will probably copy the style for the Cloth Club overcoatings.

I have one, like this, made by Dege. Very very heavy navy herringbone. DB, slant flapped pockets (no ticket pocket, no breast pocket), flared skirt. I was told by the US H. Lesser rep, who stopped me on the street, that the cloth was likely Moorebrook, a line they carried until it went defunct.
