For London at least, it all depends on the weather...

I could easily list half a dozen outfits, chosen according to temperature, outlook (sunny, cloudy, rainy (for which there could be a sliding scale from spitting to drizzly to squally to torrential)), humidity, and whether during the course of the day any of the aformentioned are likely to change and how frequently.

Yes, the weather here is unpredictable to say the least. This year we had snow in October for the first time in 70 years. The last week or so has put me in mind of the opening of Chapter 2 in Dr No: "From first light on March 1st, hail and icy sleat, with a Force 8 gale behind them, lashed at the city and went on lashing ..." By Christmas we will probably be walking the streets in shirtsleeves - temperatures in the low 60s are not uncommon in December.

I do travel to both cities often , I love them both and I could right an endless list of what I could wear strolling around St james or Le marais ... So instead I will try to remember what I was wearing last time I was in London and Paris this autumn .
