Dear All

Savile Row is featured on a BBC 2 programme called British Style Genius; it is on tonight at 9.00pm.

BBC 2 is also showing a repeat of the 3 part Savile Row series that was shown earlier on this year. Tone of the programmes is on at 11.20pm tonight.

Thanks a lot, Alderbaran. I have just noticed, alas, that the program cannot be watched online from outside the UK. Will any generous fellow Lounger be kind enough to record it? I thank in advance! :)

Thank you so much for posting about the Savile Row repeat. I missed that series first time around as I believe it was on BBC 4, which I dont have access to.

The British Style Genius programme was great tonight, so much better than watching girls dashing around Topshop.

Why does Oswald Boateng have the words ' bespoke couture' on his suit labels? It seems a bit excessive having both terms used to describe his suits but perhaps I am missing out on something?

I checked his website and his 'bespoke couture' line is actually Ready To Wear. I am very confused.

I'm guessing it's a form of marketing. To show that bespoken details are put onto his RTW line.

I've seen many RTW wear products with such details like working cuffs on the sleeves already done and cuffed trousers. That can be pretty hard for an alterations tailor to work with.

If I'm not mistaken, I do believe Mr. Boateng studied under Tommy Nutter, or at least was inspired by him.

Alderbaran:

Is there anyway to view the online version here in the USA?

I clicked on the web address and it said "video only available in the UK."

Copies of the series can be purchased for £30. Email Julie.Jackson@bellwethermedia.co.uk for more details. They do ship overseas but dont accept paypal. They do accept cheques but I dont think this would work for anyone outside the UK? I've never had a chequebook  so I'm not sure how they work. Usually I would send an international money order when a cheque is required.
I hope this is of some assistance.

Thanks for your message! I do have the 3-part documentary on SR. I wondered if someone would not have saved the program broadcast yesterday.

Cufflink:

I didn't realise that you wouldn't be able to view it online from the USA.

You might be able to find it on You Tube.

I think marcelo is looking for the program broadcast at 9pm on Tuesday which was not part of the original Savile Row series. If he looks at similar threads on SF or AAAC he may find a link to a "grey" site. I am not sure LL members are into such shenanigans or would know how to down load it anyway.

Did anybody watch – and save as a private file – the BBC program “A Cut Above - The Tailored Look”? I always get the message “Currently BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only” whenever I try to download it from this corner of the world. Some fellow Loungers seem to have mistaken this program with the three-part documentary on Savile Row “Love Thy Neighbour”.
