I am on the brink of ordering a pair of cream-coloured summer trousers (either rather late, or rather early, depending on your view) in a gabardine from H&S's Black Tie book. Does anyone have any thoughts about the fabrics in the book? Any positive or negative experiences?

Sorry about the late reply.

Gaberdine is a rather tight weave and not always the best summer fabric. Apparently it was once used to make skiing trousers. However, I do like the H&S Black Tie book. Indeed it is probably my favourite of all of their books, but it is a pot-pourri of various offerings from different sources, and I cannot recall the specific cloth in question despite having only seen the book a few days ago. If it is a gaberdine you want, this would probably make a very nice pair nonetheless.
