John G. Hardy/Dorchester book

Greetings to all and a warning that the Dorchester book (14 oz cloth) in the John G. Hardy ranges
(http://www.hfw-huddersfield.co.uk/hardy ... asp?seco=H)
is being discontinued. It has apparently, and very recently, been removed from the web site. I was able to secure 4 m. through Meyer and Mortimer for a three piece suit order, but they had to call to make sure the cloth was still available. There still may be limited quantities of some of the references, but you would have to hurry. This is a sad instance of the deplorable modern trend towards lighter cloths.
Best regards,

That's a shame. I just took delivery of a tan herringbone from that book, and it appears to be very good. Definitely a "town and country" flavor, however, which might be falling through the cracks in contemporary wardrobes.

One hopes the entire firm is not discontinuing production. The glitch on the Dorchester book is present in other bunches as well.
As the company news highlights some new arrivals for the 2008 collections, perhaps they are freshening the entire webpage.

Concordia,
I fervently hope you are correct.
On my last visit to Meyer and Mortimer, I was disappointed to find out that the heavier cloth qualities are becoming ever fewer. It seems that there is less and less choice remaining between the suitings in city stripes or plains, and the 16 oz. and up tweeds.
I tend to prefer heavier cloths because of drape and durability, even for city suits. The lightest suits that I own, or have on order, are in the 12/13 oz. weights.

I am happy to report that the JJ Minis and John G Hardy books are back on the web site. I cannot tell whether any changes (additions or withdrawals) were made.

Sadly, it is as I feared.
Unless I am mistaken, the Dorchester book formerly contained forty different cloths; the new version has only twenty-four. I do not know about the other John G. Hardy or J.J. Minnis books, but I fear we are losing mostly the heavier qualities.
