As a London Lounge newbie I've appreciated the advice I received on a shoe purchase I was planning to make, and by way of helping others I'd like to pass on my experience when purchasing a pair of RTW moleskin trousers.

In a previous posting someone had recommended House of Bruar as an acceptable online supplier of the aforesaid item. Certainly the price was extremely competitive (perhaps that should have set warning bells ringing) and I went ahead and purchased a pair of tan moleskin jeans, 34 inch waist and 31 inch trouser length.

Delivery was very quick, but I was disappointed by the fit. The waist is rather snug for a 34, but more importantly the trousers generally are extremely 'figure hugging'. I'm sure they wouldn't look out of place on a 1970's soft rock star! As a result, the trouser length is affected and they don't hang well at all.

I'm 6 foot tall and weigh well under 14 stone, so I'm sure it's not my figure that's the problem, rather the actual fit of the trousers.

In fairness to the supplier, they seem to have an excellent returns policy and I should be able to obtain a refund (less postage for the returned trousers), but I thought it may be worth sharing this information with other potential buyers. Unless you have very slim legs, I'd advise caution.

Have you tried Cordings (www.cordings.com)? I bought some shirts and trousers (moleskin and twilll) from them and am very happy both about the products and the service (my shipping address is in France and I received the goods very promptly).

I have a pair of Cording's moleskin breeks that are nearly 30 years old and still perfectly good to wear. They are a little tighter than when I bought them, of course, but that's not Cording's fault!!

Why, that speaks very well of Cordings, NJS! Quite a few makers of clothes in my wardrobe seem to have made clothes that shrink a little more each year.

Same here.. each year they seem just a little more on the snug side.. How odd that is???
Nothing to do with the fine food and wine I like then?

Things did reach a stage about 3 years ago when I simply could not get into them - but that stage has passed!

Thats why I go to the gym.. My good suits are just too good to sit in the wardrobe not being worn!!!

I draw the line before the gym. Plenty of other good forms of exercise - walking - and so on.

I buy them at Beretta and find them wholly satisfactory.

Currently they only have one shop in the UK I believe (London). I don't know if they do mail order, so dependng on where you live this may not be an entirely practical option for you.
