Good day Gentlemen:

I'm in a very good and inspirational mood today, so I thought Id share it with you.

Today the weather here in Albuquerque was nice and cool. Lows in the mid 40s, with highs in the mid 60s. It was finally cool enough for me to wear my Camelhair sport jacket without breaking a sweat.

On a day to day basis, roughly the same people see me on the train, bus, and at the University. They've see me in a suit and tie, but mostly in a sport jacket with or without a tie, in the Summer time a blazer or sport jaket with polo shirt.

These people know I like to dress well and have given me nice complements, have asked me where I have purchased various items, and asked adivce on what goes with what.

However, today was different. Just about everbody I saw was giving me complements, asking me where I got the jacket, and what the jacket was made of.

You'd think no one had ever seen a Camelhair sport jacket before.

Complements included:

What a wonderful jacket.

You look really great.

What is that great jacket made of?

(I am especially proud of this one from a well dressed lady on the train) You look so sexy and powerful in that jacket. (sorry for gloating, but as stated earlier I'm in a very good and inspirational mood today. )

I very much like Camelhair sportscoats. This one was made during this summer's Sartorial vacations in Sicily for an LL member. It is a lovely vintage camelhair from Scabal.

That is a lovely coat. What weight is the cloth and how do you envision wearing it?

The cloth was about a 400 gms weight vintage (1960s) camelhair the likes of which you simply cannot find anymore. It was dense and felt like butter in the hand. I kept a small piece of the cloth just to look at and touch. The LL member found the cloth in a vintage selection held by a tailor in Japan.

In addition to this coat, the very tasteful young man also made a DB suit from a vintage piece of gray pinstriped Dormeuil "Sportex" sourced from the same tailor in Japan. It turned out wonderfully. I hope to have some pictures one day soon.

The camelhair can be worn interchangeably with the blazer, its less chic cousin. With light gray flannels, blue shirt, red pocket square..the choices are limitless. I would have a coat like this if I could find the cloth, but the very fortunate LL confrère had acquired the last length. Blast! Blast! Triple Blast!..excuse me
