I am thinking of commissionig a couple of shirt jackets for travel in the warmer and cooler months.

For the warmer months, I am leaning towards 12oz Irish linen.

I have some options in mind for the cooler months, including covert cloth, cavalry twill, 15oz 3ply fresco. When it gets real cold, I will wear an overcoat over this shirt jacket.

Any suggestions?

The important thing with a shirt/jacket is that the cloth have enough rigidity. There is no structure in a shirt/jacket and if the cloth is too soft, it will become a mess in short order.

For warmer weather, a 3ply Brisa cloth would be a good idea. For the cooler months prefer a heavy high twist cheviot, whipcord or cavalry twill

Cheers
