Retail Sale of Tailor’s Canvas?

This July and August -- this Argentine winter -- I had another suit made by a fine tailor in Buenos Aires from my wool-and-mohair, perhaps eight- or nine-ounce cloth. Clearly, I aimed at a lightweight, summertime suit.

Unfortunately, the suit is heavier and stiffer than I should have wished. The weight and stiffness come chiefly from the canvas (should anyone be interested, the Spanish word is intertela, "in-between cloth"), although the tailor used the lightest, supplest domestic canvas available (apparently, no one imports tailor's canvas, so Argentine tailors must choose from but two types, I think).

Should I have more coats made in Buenos Aires, I'd like to bring canvas that would give the airy, soft feel of a good A&S suit. Would any Lounger be so kind as to advise me of the type of canvas I should buy (as well as how much of it for a tall, slender frame -- single-breasted and double-breasted suit coats) and where I might buy it?

Many thanks (or should I say, "muchas gracias"?)!

Isles sells tailors canvas in all weights. I would suggest you call Stanley and discuss with him.

Best regards.
