ventile lining for overcoats

I am planning a double-breasted tweed coat and my source has some nice patterns in 19 oz tweeds. When I said that these might be too light for overcoat use, the vender suggested that I line it with ventile, which he already does for the MTM coats he sells. He argues that this greatly enhances the warmth of the garment.

He said that the ventile substitutes for the bemberg one would ordinarily use. Any thoughts? Is this a routine matter for my (Romanian) tailor?

He may not know what ventile is, but he is an excellent tailor - can't tell you, dear dr. Bresch, how happy I am about his work. Just this morning as I came into his shop to pick up a splendidly comfortable linen sports suit he recently finished, I ran into a two-meter tall, red-headed, blue-eyed Scotsman who was trying on an incredible pair of high waist fishtail back tartan trousers!
I have little advice to offer you on the matter of overcoat lining, but I just couldn't help noticing your new motto: what a subtle expression of gentlemanly humbleness!
