All my suit trousers have daks waistband. I like its comfort and minimalism.

Lately, I have been toying with the idea of introducing belted waistband into my odd trousers.

Question:
Are belted trousers considered to be more casual compared to daks trousers?

Seems like an odd consideration when it comes to odd trousers.

I wouldn't think so. Daks backs were originally introduced by Simpsons for golfing trousers where a belt can be constricting and hot in warm weather. I presume they later found favor in suits as an alternative to braces because they minimize bulk and don't call attention to the waist when the coat is unbuttoned.

So, as Cantab suggests, I'd see them as just two different flavors of odd trouser. It is true, since the U.S. Sansabelt version of a Daks-type trouser developed some unfashionable associations back in the late '60s and early '70s, that some people may still see belted pants as more "modern" and stylish, especially if low-slung. But with the revival in stingy-brim hats, fishmouth trouser pockets, and so on, I suspect all that's up for grabs. So especially if you wear all your trousers (other than jeans) at your waist, I'd say let your own preference, comfort, and occasions for wearing be your guide. I have several odd trousers of each type.
