Smith fabric, Romanian tailors, etc

I wore new pants I received yesterday from Romania made from Smith grey whipcord.

I called Donal Graham and asked him to send me swatches of his heaviest whipcord, which he did. They were beautiful: tightly woven, like iron. I ordered an appropriate length, which had to be the most expensive fabric I have purchased, I think for enough fabric for pants it cost $300. Then I sent it along to my Romanian tailor Negrila. I received it yesterday and wore it today.

It is so warm, it is like wearing a furnace (the weather was very warm today). The 15 oz fabric will keep my legs very warm. And the texture and color go perfectly with the famous POW Cloth Club limited edition flannel, of which I had a jacket made and always had trouble finding trousers that went perfectly with it.

They do not fit perfectly: the creases veer towards the crotch and they might be slightly long, both products of my not being there. But they are well constructed and certainly wearable. Not a wrinkle in them, by the way! I think the tailor charges $80. Before you mention it, you have to realize Centofanti does not have the Smith books. And calling Graham and ordering swatches could not be easier.
