Errol Flynn - A Dashing Aussie

In the adulation for the dapper dressers of yesteryears big screens stars of the likes of Gary Cooper and Cary Grant, we have often forgotten that before the latterday invasion of antipodeans such as Russells Crowe and Nicole Kidman, there was Errol Flynn.

Flynn was born in 1909, in Hobart, Tasmania. He moved to England where he was discovered by a Warner's Bros executive and shipped over to Hollywood, where he became the most famous of all swashbucklers of the big screen. Although remembered best dressed up in costume as Robin Hood, it is often forgotten that off screen he dressed as eloquently as other Hollywood stars of his time.

In an age where the likes of Crowe and Steve Irwin give Aussies a bad name for being a slovenly dresser ('daggy' being the local word for it), it is reassuring that the Aussie forumites have someone such as Flynn to aspire to.

Indeed, my favorite gent too! Here's a quintuple-stripe DB (let's assume it's very dark grey).

he had some terrible bad habits but his son was a wonderfully brave war photographer who lost his life in Cambodia. And his talent redeems a lot. He also seemed to give at least as good as he got with women, which speaks well for him-doesn't seem to have left anyone complaining.

He was an exquisite man, with a fragile beauty. A fast life of debauchery, turned Mr. Flynn into this:Image
He died, at age 49 or 50.
