Scabal and Loro Piana make a Winter Cotton. May be even heavier than 12 oz. It has a sort of nap to it. Might resemble a brush denim. Soft hand. Is different from moleskin in that it has a defined twill texture from the weaving. Rich colors available. I just made myself a dark charcoal /brown and a deep caramel brown. Plain front trousers with western pocket.

Winter cottons made by these two are 15oz. fabrics. I have several colors and they are fantastic. Zegna's "winter cotton" equivalent is a tad lighter in weight -- 13/14 oz. if memory serves right. The LP version is by far the best in terms of quality and color. My favorite color is their winter white.

Cacciopoli (distributor based in Italy), available with some tailors -- Henry Poole and Jon Green have their books -- have several books of cottons in various weights that seem decent enough.

For completeness -- LP has one winter white, several gradually darker shades of beige and brown, similarly graduated shades of green lovat, a red, an orange, plus two shades of blue. Nearly every color is superb. Lest you think I have a very good memory -- I am staring at the LP Cashpima Velvet book that has the winter cottons as well as the cashmere/cotton corduroy fabrics.

(a slight hijack on the topic)

What is an ideal super cotton weave for a hardwearing dress shirt? (longevity)

ls a super 210 too delicate for a regularly worn business dress shirt? (Regular = every two weeks)

Any one have tried suits out of these heavier cotton? I would imagine unlined, of course.

One of the lesser known (but not really less talented) NY tailors made one in lovat for a client -- it was fully lined and absolutely wonderful. Unlined would be near impossible to slip on and off.
