Hello all,

I have a couple of French cuff shirts that have two holes on each sleeve for the cufflink on the INNER layer of the cuff. (The outer layer has only one.)

What's the point of this?

(Let me know if I did not explain that well enough.)

Makes it easier to shorten the sleeve-- just roll up the cuff an extra 1/4 inch.

BTW Kirsch, are the shirts your talking about made by Thomas Pink?

I have a few of them and the reason they did that is because at the time they made the shirts in even sizes, for instance I am 17 1/2 35 they had a 17 1/2 36.

I have not used the roll up cufflink hole, the shirt fits fine. I think they do odds and evens now, it has been a while since I have brought a Thomas Pink.

Most better British shirtmakers, apart from Harvie and Hudson, offer only one sleeve length in their RTW. They then will shorten them for a small fee. New & Lingwood has the the double cufflink hole too, but H&K and Budd don't; I don't think T&A does either.

T&A doesn't do double holes, that's for sure, H&K I am not sure.

Marks&Spencer does double holes.

The problem is that any athletic person, will probbaly have difficulties with sleeve length, whereas he has broader shoulders than are envisaged with standard collar sizes

Tyrwhitt does--or at least did--the two holes for length tweaking as well.

No...the shirt is actually one I purchased at Macy's (not real high quality). I think it's a whopping "Donald Trump" collection or something.

My nicer, more expensive shirts do not have the 2-hole feature.

Kirsh, what a wonderful feature. Now my next shirt finally has a solution to the problem with the short sleeve length all those tailors in Shanghai are unable to solve.
