Ah the time of Autumn, what a great time to put up a post about plaid suitings and sportcoats.

I tend to favor plaid and checked sportcoats over suits, but looking over this post I think I would enjoy a nice woolen checked suit or two.

I think the second one would make a fabulous sportscoat, though I think the pattern may be slightly too strong for a suit.

It is the last remnant from a Robert Noble bolt. My hesitancy stems from it being only 260 gms. I would have preferred almost double that. Also there are only 3.3 meters left. Would take a very skilled cutter to make a suit from so little fabric with such a large pattern. If the cloth was heavier, I would have also considered a raglan sleeve or a warm overcoat.

Just got a thought, maybe a jacket with plus twos??

that grey with what appears to be an orange overplaid would make a fantastic suit on the right guy, if you look good in orange-go for it

That is a very nice looking pair of shoes. I also like the suit you have on as well, even though I can only see the cuffs and part of the leg. Like they say, if you want to see a well dressed gentleman, look down.

Oscarfan et al,

A minor quest for clarification. Somewhere in the back of my mind there rings the concept that the drawings above are of "checks" and the cloth photos are "plaids". I believe that even the glen, glenurquart (sorry about the spelling),and Prince of Wales "plaids" are checks in the strictest sense, plaids being familial designations and checks relating to locations - estates, districts, etc.

How wrong am I in this assertion?
