Formal Wear

With upcoming nuptials, my sartorial attention has been drawn to formal wear. My dinner jacket is single breasted two button with notched lapels (I was in a modern mood at the time of purchase, but if I was to do it again I am thinking peak-lapel). Black wool with satin lapel. I have the misfortune of being a 39-Long, so the jacket is made to measure. I think I was lucky and the jacket and pants hang quite well. This will be coupled with black silk bowtie and cumber bun (I am not happy with the move to long ties with formal wear).

Now for my indulgence--I had a custom made shirt. Pleated front, spread collar. Fabric with a fine diamond pattern. This is one of my first custom made shirts, and there is no going back. I live in Chicago and wanted to have it done locally, for easy accessibility for fittings and repeat orders. I found one of the few truly custom shirt makers left in Chicago. Riddle Mc Intyre Co. in downtown Chicago. The tailor Frank draws and cuts the patterns and has an in-house staff that sews.
