Classic SB suit

I moving to commission a classic business English SB suit and want it to have classic details - cut fit and above all detail.
I recall my first such suit rather more years ago that I care to remember from my Father's tailor was quite a bit different - probably because in my teens I did not stamp my personality on details. It those features I want to recapture. Sadly both are now long dead.
Things such as button fly braces, pocket style and placement (and lack of). Whilst preferences can govern a lot that simpler suit was nonetheless comfortable and well worth recreating in a modern cloth.
What advise or memories can anyone contribute to my thoughts?
