Shirting Fabrics: 150 cm. vs. 90 cm.

Aside from the fact that one needs more of the 90 cm.-wide cotton than the 150 cm., is there any difference between cottons made in the two widths? In particular, is there an inherent quality difference related to the size of the loom that produces these two widths? Finally, is 90 cm. fabric said to be made from a "small loom"?--i.e., is that what is meant by "small loom"?
