Thanks to all who have said nice things about my book. I'm glad so many people liked it, as this is a really discerning audience. To the rest of you, expect a visit from Remirro de Orco when you least expect it.
Thanks especially to Alden for giving me a home here for so many years, during which time I had a lot of fun, made a lot of friends, learned many new things, and honed many of my arguments.
LLers in NYC this Thursday are of course invited to the book party, at Venanzi, 3 West 56th, NYC, 6-8 pm. I hope to see you there.

Hello Manton. I am looking forward to read your book. It should arrive any day now. Right now I am reading Boyer's "Elegance". I do find it much brighter, more funny and more trustworthy than Flusser's books. Boyer has a broad knowledge of history and society. I hope your book is more a Boyer than a Flusser

Much as I love Alan's books -- and I love them a great deal -- I have always enjoyed Bruce's writing more. He is a literary scholar by training, and that comes through. I cannot recommend highly enough Eminently Suitable, which is an underappreciated masterpiece, even better than Elegance, in my opinion.
Getting to know Bruce and Alan over the years, receiving their help and advice, and having them both publicly endorse my book meant more to me than I could put into words.
As to where my book fits in, I think it is sort of ... neither. I will say that it is a little closer to Bruce in that it is primarily a book to be read -- the illustrations are garnish and not really integral to the text.

Was the frontispiece noting a forthcoming "Discourses on Apparel Arts" a mere tease, or is this a work in progress? How smashing an addition that would be to one's sartorial library!

I very much hope that will happen. It is now in the hands of the lawyers, and the various rights departments.

I heard a rumour that Mr Kelly may be attending. Is this true?

You mean Ian Kelly? It's not a rumor that I have heard, but he is welcome to attend.
Much thanks

So much rain and not a flip-flop to be seen in the room! A few of us stayed late, afraid of getting our bespokes drenched. Mr. Venanzi was gracious and kind.
Much thanks to Mr. Seitelman and Mr. Venanzi and congradulations to Manton.

My thanks to Mark for organizing, to Gene Venanzi for hosting, and to all who came. Turnout certainly exceeded expectations. I know some of you came from a long way, and that meant a lot to me. I was pleased to see many old friends, and to meet well known "E-friends" in person for the first time.
Thank again for everyone's support and good wishes.

Peace, Respect and Wide Open Platitudes. I was too shy to meet our man Manton, but we exchanged a nod, I think. Grazie to Mister Seitelman for otherwise helping me do the ring-a-ding thing. I was stolen away after an hour, maybe. But it was an hour worth remembering. In case anybody has any doubts or misgivings, take it from me, whatever that means: The SUIT is a beautiful thing.
