Dear Gentleman

A few minutes ago i register myself in this great lounge.
Congratulations !!
This is what im searching for so long.

Now to my person:
Im from Austria (state: Upper Austria) 41 years old, married and working in the network security business.
Since my early twentieth i noticed that i feel very comfortable in traditional clothes and fashion.
Before that i didn´t even touch a suit or a jacket.
Now its the complete opposite.
Here in Austria is a fashion desert when it comes to fine gentleman clothing and fabrics. Not any good shops to buy.
All around here it is all about those light-weight italian fabrics (with 3 button jackets) And i prefer mid to heavy weight clothing.(tweeds,flanells.....) with 2 button jackets and waistcoat.
What i notice is:
When ever i feel good in a suit or other clothes ...people tell me that it is looking good on me (even it is good old fashioned) but they dont want to wear it by themself.

The only thing i can offer is sending some samples of the famous austrian Loden to LL members if they are interested in.
Around me i have access to producer of this great fabric.Most of the time i use Loden as replacement for flanell.

You can have loden in different weights.
So enough writing for now.
Im looking forward to be a good member of the LL

Nice to have you here Herbert. I know where you are coming from in regards to your comment about tradtional clothing. I hope that the members here can answer any questions you may have, along with whatever knowledge (loden...) you can impart to us.

Thank you for the welcome Mr. James. I will write soon a small explanation about Loden.
What it is ,where it comes from and how it is made...
It will take some time to tranlate it into english and i will post some pictures with in.
Please be patient.
And take excuses for my bad english.If i write something wrong or make any other failures don´t hesitate to correct me.

Welcome, Herbert. I am surprised to hear you say that Austria is a desert for fine menswear. I thought there were some good stores in Vienna at least like the famous Knize and some excellent custom shoemakers like L. Reiter. Of course, I haven't been in Wien since 1963. I was little more than a kid then (21 actually) and not much of a sartorialist. I know that Flusser in his book "Style and the Man" devotes a section to shopping Vienna, but that book was published 10 years ago. Have things deteriorated so bady in the past decade.

As for loden, it is indeed wonderful stuff. At the suggestion of my late mother, I bought a traditional green Austrian loden coat about 22 years ago. I have worn the hell out that garment, and it is still going strong!

I didn´t man especially Vienna. Yes there is Knize. And the production of Ludwig Reiter is about 15 minutes away from me.
I meant the place where i am living. It is a very small town with abouit 15000 inhabitants
I have to drive about 3 hours to Vienna and about 2 hours to Munich.
But most of the time im waiting till i have the chance to come to London where my wife and me love to go shopping and sightseeing.
In the last 10 years i bought very little in Austria or Germany.
"Desert for Menswear"
It is my opinion. Because most (about 95%) of the Austrian men are worst dressed.
White socks to suits and so on......it seems that nobody take to much care about what to wear.
I confess that my understanding of menswear is a very conservative.And i dont buy things because they are just now en vogue.
