Pinstripe on navy background: options besides white stripes

I understand that white pinstripe on navy background is considered a staple business suit. I would like to get a pinstripe suit on navy background, but probably not with white pinstripe as I find white pinstripes too prominent.

Is there another combination that is a little more subtle that still falls into the business staple category. I would not want anything that is too trendy.

Appreciate your advice.

Moving away from pinstripes, there is the option of pale grey or blue chalk stripes. Probably best in flannel, but you might find worsted in that combination.

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to photograph this especially beautiful suit made from a vintage material (new old stock). Very nice effect, don't you think?

I recently bought a navy suit with subtle yellow-goldish pinstripes. Sounds weird but the stripes are only visible at close inspection. As soon as I have the suit at home I try to post pictures which show what I mean.

I like it, but cannot pull it off myself.

Concordia has a good idea here - I've seen some marvelous blue and lilac stripes on blue suiting that range from understated to fairly bold. Grays and pearls are a lower contrast approach to stripes than white. But its been a while since I've looked at those books and couldn;t tell you where to go.

From time to time I still wear a navy blue worsted I purchased off the rack at Richard James a few years ago. The pinstripe is pale blue. It remains conservative and more subtle than white.

Look into the amadeus series by Dormeuil.

They have a lovely deep purple (kind of like a very deeply bluish/purple similar to a tanzanite) on a dark navy blue.

I've had the purple on black made into a fine 3 piece but they look very similar.

It looks stunning!

That`s the suit I wrote about. Actually there are subtle blue-yellow stripes:

I like that shirt/tie combo, Richard. Where did you get the shirt?

From my shirtmaker. But I don`t know the manufacturer of the fabric.
