Dear London Lounge members

Ozwald Boateng is opening a store this coming December where Anderson and Sheppard were previously.

Kilgour have opened a new shop at no.5 Savile Row, it is right next door to their existing shop.

Nichola Jones, the Manchester based tailor, is planning to open a shop on the Row in the next year.

I will bring my camera with me the next time I am in that area, so that I can post pictures on the new stores.

Regards

Thanks for your great pics, Sir.

What happened to London's bobbies? That's the shortest one I've even seen. I always thought their hats were supposed to be sort of bell-shaped, not visor/peak caps.

That is a traffic warden not a policeman. A task now contracted out to independent private companies

I was at Kilgour today. Their new store at 5 SR is solely RTW but they are using it to sell what they describe as a sharper and more unstructured line of clothing. Looking at what was on offer, they have essentially just tried to go younger and more fashionable. The clothes look great but it's a shame they seem to have gone the way of the Italians - you can barely get inside the door before you're button holed by sales people. Boy does it irritate me when I just want to browse at leisure, but so much as pause to look at something on a rack and they've brought you three sizes and four colours of the same thing to try on.

The Boateng store is due to open in December. I assume he is moving from his current premises on Vigo Street next to the back entrance of Albany and Ede & Ravenscroft.

You may know that Richard James recently opened a place next door to the unit pictured, dedicated purely to bespoke.

No. It is called "Richard James Bespoke", but in addition to being the shop to which RJ has moved its bespoke suit service, it sells made to measure shirts, made to order socks, and ready-to-wear suits, shirts and ties with the label "Richard James Bespoke", which, come to think of it, is further diluting the idea of bespoke and Savile Row. The RTW Richard James Bespoke shirts are supposedly made of more luxurious cloth, although it's not clear if they're made in Slovakia like RJ's main line, or if they're made any better than RJ's main line. The RTW Richard James Bespoke suits are made in Italy and retail around 1500 pounds.

They said they also can realize anything upon discussion -- silk robes, etc., and will be selling some limited run luxury cufflinks -- which look nice enough, although very expensive.
