Greetings all:
I was wondering what some of your favorite barbershops are? I have used Foshay Barbers in downtown Minneapolis before and liked them. They are located in the Foshay office building. I had my shoes shined at Truefitt and Hill in Chicago but didn't have time for a haircut. I haven't found one that I like yet in Albuquerque NM where I am currently living right now (well Rio Rancho to be exact).

Trumper's in London.

First choice is Gentleman's Tonic, next is Trumpers, both in London.

Ah, one must be more specific! Trumpers has two London locations, one is Curzon Street, one in Jermyn Street. I have been having my hair cut in Curzon St for the last decade, so I guess they do something right.

Whilst I have used both, Jermyn Street usually on a convenient whim, my preference is for Curzon Street. In addition to being competent barbers, the chiropodist there is excellent.

I'm new to the forum but I'd very much like to weigh in on this topic. I've dealt with Taylor's for many years and was fortunate enough to visit their shop this spring. An extremely close second would be the Curzon St. location of Trumpers. The history of the facility makes it worthy of a visit. Third choice is a shop in the West country run by friends of mine - The Gentleman's Shop. I'm still searching for something comparable stateside.

I greatly enjoy John Allan's in New York. http://www.johnallans.com/. My sense is that it's probaby a little less traditional, but their full service (including a short massage, manicure, and shoe polishing along with the haircut) is a wonderful break in the day and can leave one feeling a little more, dare i say, gentlemanly.

As another suggestion in London, I highly recommend Flittner's, located on Moorgate in the City. It's a larger, busier operation than Trumper's or Taylor's, but it's a very traditional, old fashioned place.

That looks terrific--I'll definitely have to give them a try next time I'm in Manhattan.

Amusingly enough, last time I went for a trim, the three of us were chatting about which staff had gone over the years I have been having my hair cut there (gosh, that makes me sound about twenty years older than I am). One manicurist came particularly to mind, Amanda, the predecessor of Elizabeth's predecessor, so to speak. She was an absolute star, too.

Yes, ever time I go there, there is a new turn over! I guess like everywhere in the world of business, people no longer stick with one job or place; just the times I guess. But like yourself,...................................I or we do!
