Website for Tailoring Styles?

Does anyone know of any good internet sites where I can look at and compare various tailoring styles? Specifically, Anderson & Sheppard-esque soft tailoring vs. what a harder-edged look may be?

I am drawing a bit of a blank in thinking about what I want my next suit to look like. The 'soft' style seems interesting but I can't really find good internet resources on it.

thanks very much,

Tariq

I don't know of any such site. On this and other fora, people have posted various pictures of bespoke suits over the years. Some are still hosted, others are gone. Also, some of the Japanese "shoe porn" websites have pictures of bespoke suits. With a little digging you will be able to find some good stuff. But I don't think there is a comprehensive source.

One problem, of course, is that photographs of bespoke suits on hangers or mannequins tell one very little. Suits only come alive on their owners -- as opposed to shoes, the solidity of which allows them to be appreciated both on the foot and off -- and not many owners submit to being photographed in multiple outfits for the sake of comparison. But our members' albums in the Photojournal is one place to start.

If you look through the Englishcut.com website you will find a "who's who" of Savile Row. Many of the firms mentioned have their own websites, with representative pics of what they like to make.

For a more idiosyncratic--bordering on weird-- look at a smaller sample, Bown's Bespoke (has its own website) has shots of the author in various new suits from different tailors, with breathless commentary.

I have found this StyleForum posting by A Harris to be a visual treasure chest of bespoke garments:
