The rumor has surfaced again that US cordovan leather producer Horween is in trouble and may close. Do any of our members have any info on this?

I am a fan of cordovan leather for country shoes in the chukka boot or double soled derby vein. If there was any chance the supply of quality cordovan leather was about to vanish, it would be time to order a few pair before it does.

I had heard the same rumor at some point last year, and I e-mailed Skip Horween asking if there was any truth to it. He replied that there was none at all and that Horween's business was thriving and expanding. I don't know if the source of your rumor and mine was ultimately the same or if things have deteriorated for Horween in the past year or 18 months.
