Let me express my strongest solidarity to our British friends. This attack to London is a evil and vile one.

I sincerely hope and wish our friends and their families from London are all right.

I'm a Londoner today.

We are one with Britain in hope and prayer; and we pray and hope that the evils so actively attacking the West will be extirpated.

My city -- Moscow -- had suffered from a similiar (although, fortunately, less massive) attack some time ago. I know that feeling -- the feeling of fear when you enter a metro each morning and awaiting something terrible to happen...

Londoners, you have to call all of your courage to overcome this. History proved many times that people from UK are courageous ones; I believe that you'll show your famous national character once again.

My deepest sympathies with all of you.

My sister's in london at the moment.
I haven't heard back from her yet, but I'm sure she'll be fine. (fingers crossed)

Stagfoot,

If you have concerns about your sister's safety, then you might like to phone Scotland Yard's casualty hotline on 0870 1566344. I do hope she is OK.

I always question so-called "analysis" of terrorists' motives when they attack, for example in this instance the popular wisdom is that this attack is punishment for the UK's support for the Iraq war, or a warning, or whatever.

That said, if it IS a message of some sort to the British, you have to question the "sechel "of the planner, who thinks that a few bombs are going to affect the same city that survived the Blitz and won the Battle of Britain. The BBC was reporting, for example, how calmly emergency services treated and evacuated the wounded.

I imagine that these bombs caused all the Londoners to have an extra cup of tea. But were I a terrorist, I would not mess with them. Pointless. They are famous for being the most stalwart people on Earth.

These are the people who survived the Blitz. The current crop of bastard terrorists will not succeed, and the people of England shall never be slaves. Courage and defiance! The free world stands with you.
