Gentlemen,

have you ever heard about this brand? Their luxury line - Regent handtailored. I fortunately own some of their fantastic suits! A minimum on shoulder padding - handwork only, marvelous fabrics and an excellent fitting makes them superior suits! No matter how long the day is - you can hardly see any pleats and after a 2 h hang out - you will not be able to find any pleat at all.

They also make fantastic leightweight summer jackets

So what is your impression / experience of Regent?

A German Oxxford?

Judging by the company's website, Regent's clothing looks well-designed and wellmade. That Regent has been around for sixty years is encouraging, too (that I'd not heard of it before means nothing). But I found odd the apparent claim to have developed the natural shoulder (or, perhaps, my German is even weaker than I thought and the company claims merely to have developed a natural shoulder).
Congratulations, l.g., on a fine choice.

Regent at one time was a supplier to Paul Stuart in NYC, a well known haberdashary. My recollections where well made and a natural shoulder as one would expect in Paul Stuart.

It does not seem bespoke though; more rtw or mtm I would say.

Definitly not bespoke. A well made RTW garment.

Regent is available at one of Hamburg's best - probably the best - haberdasher STABEN.

I will go there this weekend and ask them what it really is.

I do believe Regent is MTM - not a full bespoke.

The website for Regent speaks of patternmaking for individual customers, etc., while indicating that the clothes are not bespoke: a good made-to-measure, it seems.

I spent one week, about 4 years ago, working at the Regent premises just outside of Munich. I was involved in putting together a line of high quality RTW clothes and needed to adjuct and personalize their patterns.

So, bespoke, they are not. Very good, they are. A high amount of hand workmanship coupled with great quality control and pride of work. All in all, a very good suit.

How would you compare quality and cut of Regent with Oxxford, Len?

And, le.g., what prices are typical for Regent?

The Regent RTW suits I saw so far retailed at 800€ - 1400€ which is about $ 900 - $ 1700. MTM suits starts at about 1100 - 1200 € which is about $1350 - $ 1380 but I do not know the price of their most expensive suit. The cheapest Regent I ever saw was on sale for 800€ retail suit for 550€ about $ 670..

If the workmanship be on a par with Oxxford, these prices are very good indeed.

I don't believe there is too much that differs as far as cut is concerned. As for make, well there certainly is more handwork in an Oxxford suit, but that does not necessarily make it fit or work any better.
