How much cloth does it take...

Hello all
I am interested in having a local tailor here in Vietnam make me a single breasted mid length car coat - kind of like this (for want of a better picture)

I have one here that he can copy, it measures 86cm from bottom of collar to bottom of coat.
Have my eye on an eBay auction of a 1.5m length of herringbone tweed with a very faint windowpane that I think will look great, but concerned that 1.5 m just wont make the distance. So how much cloth does it take to make a coat of this type?
