Thanks, Simon, this is a great introduction. One hopes the old guard finds a way to pass on the tradition, either in HK or elsewhere. It doesn't seem like a very secure place to grow business just now.

Some firms jumped from Shanghai to HK a long time ago. Next step for luxury boutiques-- Singapore? Or will the PRC elite be able to keep merchants happy after they take over the government?
