Tailoring work, I mean. What stories do you have =to share about working with tailors during a Pandemic? Are things finally getting better? Are you using Skype fittings?
Cheers

Very slowly in person in Toronto.
Nothing at all happening with my London tailor. Haven't explored skype fittings with them yet.

Did a couple of skype fittings with Dalcuore before Gigi passed away, mostly for adjustments on garments I had fitted in person in Naples last Summer, which required small adjustments here and there. Once Brexit came in full force I stopped, as things got stopped at the border and crazy fees were applied. I rather wait until I can fly there and collect in person (same for shirts from Golia and trousers from Cerrato actually - Brexit is hampering the collaboration with Italian tailors).
My main London tailor (Dan MacAngus) and my alterations lady have been coming to my place for fittings - in the height of the pandemic we would do fittings in the garden
Now with people being already vaccinated we've been more relaxed about it.
I've also visited Cad and the Dandy to collect 2 jackets I commissioned when we came out of the first lockdown. I'm looking forward to some new in person commissions here in London now that things are slowly opening again.

Belimad I also use Dan and he is quite a talent, as is Richard when it comes to knowledge on cloth. Dave is great for alterations. Don't know how they do it for the money really.

Agree on Dan and Richard, I'm not a huge fan of Dave to be honest.

Has the tailoring scene improved there? When I was there a few years ago it was really hard to find someone, everyone seemed to go to trend.

I too use Dan, Richard and Dave and find them to be ideal. All of them are always helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I look forward to seeing them again when lockdown is over. They are a great crew.

I'll let you know, its my first go with a tailor here. Pandemic inspired me to give it a shot.
New company gathered up a lot of the talent in Toronto. Being Toronto the website is very trend heavy, but first fitting went well, so I have hope.

I had a coat in the making with a tailor I know well, and we managed to go through two fittings somehow. Then we agreed that he sends it over, and it was just perfect.
With another tailor, I have two suits in the making, and not being able to see him since last August has put things on hold. I expect to see him in summer once I'm vaccinated.
Lastly, the Italian tailor - I expect to be able to travel there from September. So it is pretty much the end of the tunnel now.
Cheers, David

Have many of you had vaccinations? I suppose we should make sure our tailors get their jabs so they can travel again!

Few new commissions during the "true lockdown". Mainly took delivery of some things that had been ordered before. One of those (a sportscoat by Corcos) was delivered without a fitting - as the wait had already been so long. This being the seventh jacket he made for me my pattern was already pretty much dialled and Kotaro did a fantastic job. Really nothing to tweak even
Just ordered a new suit (the blue Agnelli) from Steed and was able to see Edwin and Matthew in person
